GOOD SMILE COMPANY, a Japanese figure manufacturer, recently announced that the latest products from their Q-version, low-head-to-body ratio articulated doll series, 'Nendoroid Doll', featuring the super popular virtual twin YouTubers 'Omega Sisters', namely 'Omega Ray' and 'Omega Rio', are scheduled for simultaneous release in February 2023.
The independent virtual YouTuber group 'Omega Sisters', active since 2018, consists of a pair of twin sisters. The elder sister, Ray, mostly plays the role of the serious, common-sense individual, possessing considerable skill in art, 3D modeling, and even programming, and is passionate about Gunpla and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. The younger sister, Rio, takes on the role of the free-spirited, goofy character, loving the famous instant ramen "Karakara-uo". However, compared to her sister who spends lavishly on otaku hobbies, Rio, who loves beauty products, fashion, and small animals, might actually be the more practical and common-sense one. The two are known as 'social VTubers', with content including product unboxings, real-life activity logs, VR games, comedy skits, and more, with their singing abilities also highly praised. This year, they further developed a 'virtual head + real body' performance style, diversifying their filming content.
'Nendoroid Doll Omega Ray' and 'Nendoroid Doll Omega Rio' adopt a universal specification that allows interchangeability with general Nendoroid products. Their adorable heads are crafted to showcase their individual charms. While each comes with only one face plate, they can be interchanged with separately sold Nendoroid products. The accessories include the "poop" and wooden stick set, which has almost become the group's mascot and is often used as a running gag; Ray's poop is pink, and Rio's poop is light blue.
For the articulated body and outfits, both sisters share the same basic specifications, aside from the red and blue color differences. The body features a higher head-to-body ratio and more articulation points than standard Nendoroids, allowing for a wide range of dynamic poses. The outfits are sewn from fabric and consist of three parts: a jumpsuit, a white apron, and long socks, which can be freely mixed and matched. The slip-on shoes are also independent parts that can be freely put on and taken off, and they have magnets embedded in their soles to attach to the dedicated base with an embedded iron plate.
