A cute glutton! Japanese toy company Kotobukiya is releasing a 1/7 scale PVC figure of Filo, one of the female characters from the web novel The Rising of the Shield Hero, as part of its 1/7 scale figure series. It is scheduled for release in November 2022.
The Rising of the Shield Hero (盾の勇者の成り上がり) is a fantasy novel serialized online by Japanese novelist Aneko Yusagi. It was later adapted into a manga and officially animated in 2019, with its second season premiering in April 2022. The story follows Naofumi Iwatani, a college student who, upon casually flipping through a book, is sucked into another world. There, he becomes the "Shield Hero," with an unremovable shield on his arm as his only weapon.
Filo, who appears as a cute little girl, is actually a Filolial. She is Naofumi Iwatani's first monster companion, originally hatched from a monster egg that Naofumi bought on a whim. Filo is quite gluttonous and sharp-tongued. Just as Naofumi was about to leave, Filo transformed into her human form and begged him not to go. Filo later joined his journey, becoming an important companion. Throughout their travels, Filo uses her massive Filolial size and strength to pull their carriage, and also possesses a powerful roar and combat ability. She frequently vies for Naofumi's affection, often competing with Raphtalia.
This Filo figure from Kotobukiya is based on her human form. Her attire, woven from magical threads in the original work, automatically appears when she transforms from her bird form to human, and does not get damaged during transformation. The overall impression is very dynamic, with her flowing golden hair, blue eyes, wings on her back, and the rocky base she stands on, all rendered with exquisite detail, making Filo appear as if she is leaping and dancing.
