From Japanese model manufacturer Max Factory's popular action figure series "figma", following the "figma Gridman" released in 2019, it was announced today that the latest product from "SSSS.GRIDMAN," "Gridman (Primal Fighter)," will have its full details revealed and pre-orders open on July 8th.
The Hyper Agent Gridman, who appeared in the anime version of "SSSS.GRIDMAN," was designed by Tsuburaya designer Masayuki Gotoh. This new form combines elements from the live-action tokusatsu version with modern trends, though both versions feature the same Gridman. He is an energy being, a "Hyper Agent," existing within computers. After being attacked upon arriving in the computer world of Tsutsujidai, he lost his memories and took residence within the protagonist, "Yuta Hibiki." Yuta Hibiki must merge with Gridman via the transformation device "PRIMAL ACCEPTOR" to materialize and fight against monsters.
Judging from the product images released so far, the overall appearance of "figma Gridman (Primal Fighter)" largely retains the design from the initial release, sculpted by Ryuu Sakano. It features a proportionally smaller head and larger shoulders, complemented by flexible articulation throughout the body, allowing for powerful action poses. The most noticeable difference from the initial release is the paint application, which uses a more substantial color scheme, including metallic blue and more vibrant reds. The silver's luster also appears to be enhanced. However, the precise details of the changes will only be fully revealed on the 8th.
