The Gundam EZ-8, as the main mobile suit of the 08th MS Team — the true protagonist machine (after all, the protagonist previously piloted the Ground Type Gundam, which lacked individual characteristics) — its release in the ROBOT魂 ANIME series was a disaster. The reason was that its right leg was actually a "left leg"?! This is a mistake that should hardly be made, yet Bandai still made it. As a result, there's still no resolution. It's quite a pity! Consequently, it didn't receive the treatment a protagonist machine deserves, and its value plummeted immediately upon release. This is a protagonist machine directly "handled" by the toy manufacturer, which is quite regrettable. However, if we temporarily set aside the EZ-8's right leg issue, we can still discuss a few points:
The parachute is interesting.
This time, what's included is not the common Ground Type Gundam backpack, but a parachute. This parachute is divided into two parts. The upper green section is detachable.
The lower black section, which also has thrusters, is connected by two shoulder straps, and these straps can be attached to the Gundam's shoulders. When in use, the green part detaches, and the black thruster section can be connected to a display stand, along with thruster effects, to complete the landing pose. This is a rather fresh play feature, and the parachute sits securely on the back without any issues. As for the backpack, why wasn't it included as well?
According to the original anime, the EZ-8 did not use a backpack, and its shield featured the common color scheme of the 08th MS Team's Ground Type Gundam, not beige. However, in later added animation, the EZ-8 was equipped with a beige backpack and a beige short shield.
Many aspects of the EZ-8 are the same as the Ground Type Gundam. The differences include the chest section, which can open to reveal some mechanical structures; and below the chest, there's a rotatable machine cannon. As for the head, it has no V-fin, only antennas. The manufacturer provided players with two antennas because they are simply too easy to knock off and lose. The leg designs are also quite different.
In terms of weapons, the EZ-8 comes with a beam rifle and a laser gun, but no large cannon. Of course, we can borrow one from the Ground Type Gundam for some fun.
Additionally, PARTS 3 includes accessories for the severed arm. After its left arm was damaged by the Gouf Custom, the protagonist's mobile suit, upon revival, tore off the severed arm and used it as a weapon to strike enemies. Of course, this strike did not inflict a fatal wound on the opponent.
Overall, if not for the right leg incident, it probably wouldn't have plummeted in value so quickly, would it?
