KOTOBUKIYA, a Japanese model manufacturer, has once again announced the latest collaborative product from its popular "Megami Device" series, which combines colorful mechanical equipment with highly poseable bishoujo bodies. This new item, "Angel-Type Arnval Repaint Color Version," based on "Busou Shinki," is scheduled for release in September 2023.
The "Angel-Type Arnval," the most iconic inaugural character from the "Busou Shinki" series, first had its prototype revealed in 2017, showing its revival in Megami Device form. Over the years, various supervised appearances were intermittently released, but a formal announcement was delayed until approximately five years later, when it finally made its grand debut. The product is based on the design by illustrator Fumikane Shimada, reinterpreted with the latest modern plastic model technology. Masaki Apsy, who designed the body for both iterations, has completely revamped the MMS body into the Machineca body, offering superior physique and articulation.
This version is a modification of the previously released standard edition, transforming the original pure white molded color into a new image combining jet black and crimson. The abdominal parts use new segmented pieces to reproduce the new color scheme. The hair color has been changed from dark gold to bright gold, and a brand-new ponytail hairstyle has been added. It comes with three pre-painted face parts: a serious face with red pupils (looking left), an imposing face (looking up), and a closed-eye smiling face, which was not included in the standard edition.
Other parts remain the same as the standard edition. By replacing the head, arms, and legs with armored versions, along with the massive wings, thrusters, rifle, and other components, the cool armed mode can be recreated. Despite its seemingly heavy appearance, it still boasts abundant articulation mechanisms and 3mm expansion ports, allowing for dynamic battle scenes with weapons like beam sabers and dual pistols, or customization using 3mm parts from other KOTOBUKIYA series such as Megami Device, Frame Arms Girl, and Sousai Shojo Teien.
