Following the release of the Witch-king of the Invisible World, the world-renowned TV and film special effects company "WETA Workshop" is now bringing another king to its "MINI EPICS" vinyl figure series – "King of the Dead"! Both a regular edition and a limited edition will be released simultaneously, with an estimated shipping date in Q4 2023.
In The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, the Army of the Dead played a crucial role in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. In the original Lord of the Rings books, they are known as the "Dead Men of Dunharrow," a people cursed by Isildur for breaking their oath to the King of Men. They gathered in Dwimorberg, and the Paths of the Dead at the foot of Dwimorberg were a terrifying place that almost no one dared approach. The leader of the Dead, the "King of the Dead," is also known as the "King of the Mountains."
This time, WETA has created the "King of the Dead" in two forms. The regular edition features intricate sculpting and rich, layered textures and colors for the King of the Dead's crown, attire, armor, and more. With one hand gripping a severely damaged longsword and the other extended forward, coupled with a pale, inhuman face, it fully embodies the terrifying aura of the King of the Dead. The limited edition, on the other hand, features a translucent green body, presenting a visual effect that is even closer to that of a spirit. In addition to its distinct color charm compared to the regular edition, the head sculpt is also shaped to be more gaunt, revealing a skeletal outline, making the overall appearance even more impactful!
