Following the release of "Guyver I," the popular action figure series "figma" from Japanese model maker Max Factory is once again revisiting "Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor" after many years, launching the figma 15th Anniversary product, "figma Guyver I Ultimate Edition"! The suggested retail price is 12,800 JPY, with an estimated release in December 2023.
The manga series "Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor (強殖装甲ガイバー)" by Japanese manga artist Yoshiki Takaya began serialization in "Monthly Shonen Captain" in 1985. Due to multiple hiatuses, its serialization has continued for over thirty years without reaching its conclusion. In the story, a Guyver refers to a "Bio-Boosted Armor" form that humans transform into after utilizing a Guyver unit. The Bio-Boosted Armor was originally standard equipment for the Creators; however, when humans don the armor, they can unleash hundreds of times more combat power and break free from the Creators' mental control. Guyver I is the form taken by the protagonist, Sho Fukamachi, after bio-boosting, characterized by its blue-green body color and heavy armor.
Since the release of the "Bio Fighter Collection (BFC)" in 1989, Max Factory has been dedicated to producing Guyver model products for over 30 years. Now, under the complete supervision of original creator Yoshiki Takaya-sensei, the "figma Guyver I Ultimate Edition" is finally here! Standing approximately 16 cm tall, its sculpt thoroughly captures the essence of Guyver I, with the distinctive chest lens meticulously recreated through detailed painting. The "Sho Fukamachi face part," inspired by the cover of the fifth manga volume, is reproduced with 3D coloring.
In addition to traditional figma joints, specialized joints developed for Guyver I are used, allowing for various in-show poses without compromising its appearance! The swinging structure on the shoulders can recreate the Pressure Cannon pose without the need for interchangeable parts. The chest armor is openable, allowing for display of the "Mega Smasher" firing pose with the chest open. It also comes with a rich assortment of hand parts, "High-Frequency Swords," "Unit G," and other accessories!
