Hong Kong toy brand threezero, which has released numerous movie and TV series character products, is scheduled to launch a 1/6 scale articulated collectible figure of the protagonist "John Rambo" from the classic film "First Blood" sequel, "First Blood Part II", in the fourth quarter of 2023. The price is HKD 1,570.
"First Blood" is adapted from the 1972 novel of the same name by author David Morrell, and was released as a film in 1982. Due to the dark and violent nature of the original novel, no one initially wanted to play the role of Rambo. Later, after reading the script, Sylvester Stallone decided to take on the lead role of Rambo. The film received critical acclaim upon its release, and Sylvester Stallone successfully shaped the image of Rambo.
The original novel did not have a sequel, so the story of "First Blood Part II" is original. The film, scripted by James Cameron, tells of Rambo being imprisoned for the events of the previous film and assigned to work in a quarry. At this point, a Major comes to him, giving him a secret rescue mission: to go to Vietnam under the codename "Lone Wolf" to rescue captured American servicemen. Rambo infiltrates enemy territory alone, not only facing enemy attacks but also having to find a way to escape the predicament caused by the corruption within his own American military. Faced with the casualties of his captured comrades and the murder of his Vietnamese female collaborator, Rambo once again unleashes his suppressed emotions.
This John Rambo figure, released by Threezero, differs from the previously released version, with its design based on his appearance in "First Blood Part II". Also produced in 1/6 scale, the figure stands approximately 30 cm tall. Compared to the previous "First Blood" version, there are many differences, such as the bright red headband on his head, and the predominantly black fabric clothing, including a shirt, vest, and military pants, rather than jeans. The skeletal structure, muscle lines, and articulation are essentially the same as the previous model, with the main differences being a few scars, such as on the head.
Regarding accessories, there are a total of 19 weapons and props that appeared in the film, all meticulously painted with weathering effects, achieving full realism. Weapons include Rambo's beloved longbow with its arrows and quiver. There's a military knife with a hand strap, a sheath with a sharpening stone, two throwing knives that can be stored in a hidden pouch, and a boot knife. For firearms, there's a heavy machine gun, an AK assault rifle, a rocket launcher, and more. Additionally, there's the watch seen in the movie, and the jade pendant Rambo received from the Vietnamese woman. Furthermore, there are seven sets of interchangeable hand parts that can be used with the weapons, making for a very rich assortment.
