GUNDAM BASE, Japan's official Gunpla flagship store for 'Mobile Suit Gundam,' has announced the upcoming release of its latest limited-edition product from 'Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE,' the 'HG 1/144 Core Gundam & Core Gundam II Core Change Set (Real Type Color),' which will be available starting September 23, 2023.
The 'PFF-X7 Core Gundam' and 'PFF-X7Ⅱ Core Gundam II' are Gunpla models used by the protagonist, Hiroto Kuga, during the early and later stages of the story, respectively. Inspired by the RX-78 series Gundam's Core Fighter system, these units are smaller than typical Mobile Suits, leveraging their compact bodies for outstanding mobility. They also feature a 'Planet System' combining mechanism, allowing them to merge with Hiroto's original series of Planet Armors to form various forms with distinct capabilities.
The 'HG 1/144 Core Gundam & Core Gundam II Core Change Set (Real Type Color)' is a modified version of previously released general retail products. It includes Core Gundam, Core Gundam II, Saturnix Armor, Jupitive Armor, Earthree Armor, along with their respective weapons, effect parts, and display bases. All parts are molded in colors inspired by the 'Real Type Color' scheme used by original Gundam mechanical designer Kunio Okawara on the 1981 'Mobile Suit Gundam' movie poster. Unlike the vibrant, toy-like colors seen in the anime, this set features military-inspired hues such as sand red, matte black, and grayish white, reminiscent of real-world military applications.
The playability remains the same as the general release versions. Both Core Gundam and Core Gundam II feature flexible articulation in their main bodies and are equipped with the 'Planet System' combining mechanism. They can merge with the three included armors to form various configurations such as Earthree Gundam, Jupitive Gundam, and Saturnix Gundam.
