Issued by BANDAI SPIRITS Company's HOBBY Division in Japan, the "MG (Master Grade)" series of Gunpla, known for its complete part separation and full internal frame structure, recently announced that its latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED", the "MG 1/100 Freedom Gundam Ver.2.0 (Real Type Color Ver.)", will be sold exclusively at the large-scale Gundam series event "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE -EAST/WEST/DIGITAL-".

The theme of this product, "Real Type Color", originates from the color scheme used by the original Gundam mechanical designer, Kunio Okawara, on the poster for the 1981 "Mobile Suit Gundam" movie. Unlike the toy-like vibrant colors seen in the anime, it adopts realistic military-inspired paint colors such as dark green, sand yellow, and sea blue, combined with practical fuselage markings. This style sparked a craze in the early 1980s, promoting the subsequent vigorous development of the "MSV" series. Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED", Okawara-sensei has also reinterpreted the Real Type Color scheme for the two protagonist mobile suits in the series.
The "MG 1/100 Freedom Gundam Ver.2.0 (Real Type Color Ver.)" is based on the outstanding "Freedom Gundam Ver.2.0" kit released years ago. Compared to the anime's design, the entire model features a modern, tall proportion and rich, detailed sculpting, resulting in a cool and refined appearance. It also boasts flexible articulated joints, original armor deployment, and telescopic mechanisms, allowing for dynamic combat poses using its beam rifle, beam sabers, shield, as well as the "Balaena" Plasma Convegence Beam Cannon hidden within its wings and the "Xiphias" railguns folded at its waist.
This newly released kit replaces the overall molded colors with parts in shades of gray, dark gray, military green, and yellow. It also includes newly designed fuselage marking decals, faithfully reproducing Kunio Okawara's newly designed image.
