BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan has announced that the latest product from the 'MG (Master Grade)' Gunpla series, known for its complete part separation and full internal frame structure, the "MG 1/100 Justice Gundam (Real Type Color Ver.)" from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED", will be sold exclusively at the large-scale Gundam event "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE -EAST/WEST/DIGITAL-".
The theme of this product, "Real Type Color", originates from the color scheme used by original Gundam mechanical designer Kunio Okawara on the 1981 "Mobile Suit Gundam" movie poster. Unlike the toy-like vibrant colors seen in the anime, it adopts realistic military-inspired paint colors such as dark green, sand yellow, and sea blue, combined with practical fuselage markings. This style sparked a craze in the early 1980s, promoting the vigorous development of the "MSV" series thereafter. Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED", Mr. Okawara has also reinterpreted the Real Type color scheme for the two protagonist mobile suits in the series.
The "MG 1/100 Justice Gundam Ver.2.0 (Real Type Color Ver.)" is a modification of the regular release kit from 2017. The original vibrant red molding colors have been replaced with white, gray, blue, and red, and it also includes newly designed fuselage marking decals, largely reproducing Kunio Okawara's new design aesthetic.
The rest of the features are identical to the regular version. The entire mobile suit, compared to its anime setting, is given a modern, tall proportion and rich, detailed sculpting, resulting in a cool and refined appearance. It also boasts flexible articulation, original armor deployment, and telescopic mechanisms. Armaments include a beam rifle, beam boomerang, beam saber, and shield. The backpack-mounted drone, "Fatum-00", features movable wings and a body expansion mechanism, allowing the Justice Gundam itself to stand atop it, recreating its high-mobility space combat pose.
