The HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, known for its most diverse lineup of 1/144 scale Gunpla in the "HG (High Grade)" series, recently showcased a prototype of its latest product, the "HG 1/144 Destroy Gundam," from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY". It is scheduled for release in March 2024.
The GFAS-X1 Destroy Gundam is a large transformable mobile suit developed by the Earth Alliance. Its silhouette resembles the Big Zam and Psyco Gundam from the Universal Century, boasting a massive height of approximately 56 meters, three times that of a typical 18-meter mobile suit. This machine requires an Extended human to operate as a biological CPU, and with its dedicated OS "G.U.N.D.Am. Fortress," it can flexibly control nearly 30 cannons and missiles across its body. Its armor is also equipped with a Positron Reflector that can significantly defend against solid projectiles and beam attacks, making it a strategic weapon of mass destruction. In the series, when piloted by the Extended Stella Loussier, it laid waste to European cities like Berlin, causing immense casualties.
Upon completion, the "HG 1/144 Destroy Gundam" stands at an impressive height of approximately 39 cm. Its design faithfully reproduces the sleek and formidable armor silhouette from the anime settings, recreating numerous armaments such as the mouth energy cannon, chest multi-phase beam cannon, high-energy cannons on the disc, and thermal plasma composite cannons. With its full-body articulated joint design and fully posable five-fingered hands, it can be displayed in a variety of powerful poses.
Furthermore, its MA (Mobile Armor) form, reminiscent of the Big Zam, can naturally be transformed and reproduced. Multiple locking mechanisms ensure greater stability in both MS (Mobile Suit) and MA forms. The accessories include a staggering 32 green beam effect parts, which can be attached to all ten fingers and various cannon ports on the backpack to recreate a powerful full-barrage firing state. As for the four red beams, they are for the strongest weapon, the high-energy cannon "Impact Thirteen," with each beam effect alone measuring 26 cm in length and crafted from a polarizing molded material that changes hue with viewing angle.
