BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan has announced today the latest product from the theatrical film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, the "HG 1/144 Rising Freedom Gundam," which is part of the highly diverse 1/144 scale Gunpla "HG (High Grade)" series. It is scheduled for release on January 26, 2024.
The new mobile suit appearing in the theatrical film, the Rising Freedom Gundam, is a mobile suit designed by the neutral nation Orb, based on data from the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam and incorporating the transformation mechanism of the MVF-M11C Murasame. It shares the same frame design as the Immortal Justice Gundam, features an all-around monitor cockpit, and is equipped with a VPS armor system, numerous long-range armaments, and an MA transformation mechanism resembling a fighter jet. The overall design omits the "Super DRAGOON" mobile weapon wings used as funnels, making it closer in appearance to the Freedom Gundam manufactured in C.E. 71.
The "HG 1/144 Rising Freedom Gundam" is produced using Bandai's latest part separation and color molding technology, allowing for a significant reproduction of the in-show colors through the molded parts alone. The beam shield effect parts are made with a polarized molding material that changes color depending on the viewing angle. It also features a movable joint design called the "SEED Action System," which utilizes multi-axis articulation to expand the range of motion for the neck, shoulders, and upper body, enabling dynamic and cool action poses characteristic of the SEED series.
Its armaments include a new beam rifle, two beam sabers, and a new shield that can deploy a beam blade. The plasma convergence beam cannons hidden within the wings and the folding railguns on the waist also feature deployment mechanisms, allowing for the reproduction of the Freedom Gundam series' signature full burst mode. Furthermore, by replacing certain parts, the MA form, resembling a fighter jet, can be recreated.
