Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company HOBBY Division, creators of the 'HG (High Grade)' series of 1/144 scale Gunpla, renowned for its diverse range of mobile suits, today announced the latest product from the theatrical film "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM": the "HG 1/144 Gelgoog Menace (Lunamaria Hawke's Custom)", scheduled for release on March 23, 2024.
The ZGMF-2025/F Gelgoog Menace is a new model developed from the ZGMF-1000 Zaku Warrior series. It also draws design inspiration from the Zeon mobile suit Gelgoog, which appeared in the original "Mobile Suit Gundam". The standard specification unit is equipped with a rich array of armaments including a handheld railgun, beam rifle, beam naginata, and beam shield, and can swap between two types of backpacks for space and atmospheric combat environments. Lunamaria Hawke's unit, in addition to having its mobile suit coloring changed to her personal red scheme, is also equipped with an enhanced beam rifle suitable for long-range sniping, and the missile launcher mounted on the left side of the backpack has been replaced with a solid-projectile weapon, the "Linear Cannon".
The "HG 1/144 Gelgoog Menace (Lunamaria Hawke's Custom)" is produced using Bandai's latest part separation and color molding technology, allowing for a significant reproduction of the in-show colors through the molded parts alone. The beam shield effect part is even made with a polarized molding material that changes color depending on the viewing angle. It also features a movable joint design called the "SEED Action System," which utilizes multi-axis articulation to expand the range of motion for the neck, shoulders, and upper body, enabling the recreation of cool action poses from the SEED series.
For armaments, it includes a handheld railgun, beam rifle, and beam naginata. The beam naginata handle can be stored at the rear of the waist. Thanks to the flexible shoulder articulation, poses holding the railgun or beam rifle with both hands can be recreated. Furthermore, the propulsion backpack not only features movable main wings on both sides but can also be flipped up 90 degrees along its base, allowing for the recreation of firing stances with the Linear Cannon and missile launchers facing forward.
