Danish toy company LEGO finally announced yesterday evening (24th) the long-rumored new product from Denis Villeneuve's directed sci-fi epic film 'Dune', the Icons series set number 10327, the 'Atreides Royal Ornithopter'! It is scheduled for release on February 1, 2024.
This set contains a total of 1369 pieces, and when assembled with wings deployed, it measures 79 cm in length. It meticulously recreates the details of the House Atreides ornithopter based on the 'Dune' setting, featuring a primary color scheme of black and gray parts on its surface, with numerous red Technic elements visible at the wing positions. The cockpit's silhouette is also excellently rendered. The coolest part is that designer Mike Psiaki has incorporated deployable, retractable, and flapping wing functions into this ornithopter, allowing the model to more fully express the ornithopter's movements from 'Dune', especially the incredibly stunning diving state with wings retracted! The landing gear can also be extended and retracted. I really want to experience its interlocking mechanism firsthand!

In addition to the ornithopter, this set also includes 8 minifigures: protagonist 'Paul Atreides', Paul's mother 'Lady Jessica', House Atreides' Weapons Master 'Gurney Halleck', House Atreides' Swordmaster 'Duncan Idaho', Fremen 'Chani', Paul's father 'Duke Leto Atreides', ecologist 'Dr. Liet-Kynes', and the imposing 'Baron Harkonnen' in his robes.
