Bandai Candy, the Shokugan division of Bandai Japan, has announced the second product from "Choujuu Sentai Liveman," "Bison Liner & Sai Fire," scheduled for release in January 2024. This follows the popular assembly model shokugan 'SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT ALTERNATIVE DESTINY', for which mechanical designer Toshinao Miyauchi is responsible for the mechanical design, after Live Robo (Live King).
Bison Liner and Sai Fire are giant machines jointly developed by the additional warriors in the show, Black Bison and Green Sai. Compared to the initial three machines that closely resembled animals, Bison Liner & Sai Fire are more akin to heavily armed large tanks. In addition to being able to operate independently, firing beam cannons and missiles respectively, they can also combine to form the second robot, "Live Boxer," to defeat enemies with powerful fists. Furthermore, both machines also possess a mechanism to combine with Live Robo, forming Liveman's most powerful force, "Super Live Robo."
The "SPAD Bison Liner & Sai Fire" continues the style of the previous Live Robo release, with its design reinterpreted by Toshinao Miyauchi. It significantly enhances the amount of detail and features more realistic mechanical structures. The bottom and inner surfaces of each part are filled with intricately sculpted components, with almost no noticeable hollow parts, resulting in a powerful and substantial appearance. The design of both machines prioritizes recreating the combination mechanism for "Super Live Robo," and unfortunately, the mechanism for the two machines to combine independently into "Live Boxer" has been omitted.
After Bison Liner & Sai Fire transform into arms and legs via their transformation mechanism, they can combine with the separately sold Live Robo to form "Super Live Robo." The accessories include dedicated foot parts for proportion adjustment after transformation, ensuring that the body proportions do not feel out of place after combination. The substantial arms and legs convey a powerful and heavy impression, and the back of the machine also features abundant detailed sculpting.
In the original series, Super Live Robo did not use any handheld weapons, but instead fired powerful beam special attacks from the lion head on its chest. However, the SMPAD version can still be posed with various sculpted hands corresponding to weapons like the Super Beast Sword (Choujuu Ken), and can even combine the cannons from Land Lion's back and the missile launchers from Sai Fire's back to create an original large cannon.
