Released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of BANDAI SPIRITS, the new 6-inch action figure series "GUNDAM UNIVERSE", designed for Mobile Suit Gundam fans worldwide, today announced the latest product from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, "Gundam Calibarn," scheduled for release in May 2024.
X-EX01 Gundam Calibarn is a prototype GUND-type mobile suit developed by the Vanadis Institute. After losing to Lfrith in the bidding phase, all development files were deleted. The remaining prototype was seized and sealed by the Space Assembly League during the Vanadis Incident 21 years ago. This unit is equipped with a "Variable Rod Rifle" featuring four thrusters, giving it the appearance of a witch carrying a broom. Because it lacks a data storm filter and completely disregards the pilot's safety, it is known as the "monster." This meant that even protagonist Suletta, possessing a body copied from the chosen one "Eri," could barely overcome the Level 5 Permet Score to enter the data storm field deployed by Quiet Zero, fighting with painful, rapid breaths.
The "GUNDAM UNIVERSE Gundam Calibarn" is produced with an articulated specification of approximately 15 cm in height. The detailed design of the mobile suit is reinterpreted in the GUNDAM UNIVERSE series style, featuring a different body proportion compared to the original, with more angular armor, a thicker waist, and calves. Notably, the characteristic dedicated weapon, the "Variable Rod Rifle," has its barrel length significantly reduced, and the four thrusters at the rear do not have an unfolding mechanism.
