Japan's long-established toy manufacturer "Kaiyodo" and genius sculptor "Takayuki Takeya" have once again collaborated on their articulated figure series "TAKEYA-style Jizai Okimono," with two new products from Hayao Miyazaki's masterpiece "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Valley of the Wind" now available for pre-order starting today (the 10th)! The Tolmekian Ship Soldier, like the Assault Soldier, is a common soldier in the Tolmekian military force. In the anime, the Ship Soldiers don't have cool close-quarters combat scenes like the Assault Soldiers; instead, they're typically seen driving tanks or shouting "Damn it, Ship No. 3 has been hit too!" from inside the ship's cabin, which isn't quite as cool (laughs). This articulated figure, standing approximately 15 cm tall, recreates the green-themed uniform that distinguishes them from the Assault Soldiers in the anime. It also incorporates many equipment details from the original manga. The silver helmet features realistic weathering effects, and its metallic luster is absolutely stunning.
In addition to the realistic wrinkle sculpting on the uniform, the fabric stitching, the bullet pouches on the chest, and the layered shadow painting that adds depth to the overall look are all excellent. The helmet can also be opened, though the interior does not feature extensive detailing. Accessories include a pistol, a rifle, a long sword, a dagger, multiple interchangeable hands, and a display stand. The weapon designs are identical to those of the Assault Soldier, with the only difference being the color of the interchangeable hands' gloves. Perhaps due to the helmet's sharp design and the rich details of the uniform, this Ship Soldier figure possesses an even greater imposing presence than its anime counterpart. Awesome!
