BANDAI SPIRITS' Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS, at their recent annual brand exhibition 【TAMASHII NATION 2023】, unveiled for the first time the prototype of the first product in their new series, 『DIMENSION ART METAL』, "RX-0 Unicorn Gundam". The release date is yet to be determined.
『DIMENSION ART METAL』 is an art model series that presents the emotion experienced at that moment in a new, dimension-transcending form. It utilizes a 3D structure to instantly bring Gunpla box art-like scenes to life, complemented by magnificent lighting and sound effects for an immersive experience, as if the Gundam is breaking through from two dimensions into three, creating a truly stunning effect. The Unicorn Gundam itself is crafted from a heavy-duty alloy material, and its distinctive psycho-frame is reproduced with built-in LED lights to display red and green states.
The concept of this new series differs from TAMASHII NATIONS' past offerings of playable robot model products, elevating Gundam models into high-end static art pieces. This approach is quite experimental and challenging for the market. From the current prototype, it appears that to enhance the premium feel, both the frame and the Gundam body extensively utilize metallic textures. However, if more details and variations could be added to areas such as the background and the Gundam body, the product might be even more appealing.
