Japanese model kit manufacturer Kotobukiya's popular plastic model kit line, a crossover collaboration between 'Frame Arms Girl' and external IPs, the 'Cross Frame Girl' series, today announced the latest product from its collaboration with the classic robot anime "The King of Braves": "Star GaoGaiGar," scheduled for release in June 2024.
In the original "The King of Braves," Star GaoGaiGar is the space combat configuration of GaoGaiGar, formed by combining with Stealth Gao II. Its output is significantly increased by Stealth Gao II's Ul-Tech Engine, allowing for extended operation in space or enhanced mobility within the atmosphere. It is equipped with Phantom Rings on both wings, which can be used on its hands to drastically enhance the power of its moves, allowing it to perform "Broken Phantom" and "Protect Wall," further boosting its offensive and defensive capabilities.
The "Cross Frame Girl Star GaoGaiGar" is based on the previously released GaoGaiGar, with the main body being largely the same. It fuses the beautiful girl design by Japanese illustrator Komatsu E-ji with the excellent posable body technology of the 'Frame Arms Girl' series, and can be progressively changed from a bare girl form with just the posable body to the cat-girl-like "Galeon" form, and then the armored "GaiGar" form. The three GaoMachines—Stealth Gao, Liner Gao, and Drill Gao—are also presented in cute SD (Super Deformed) styles, and can be disassembled and combined with the base body to form the "GaoGaiGar" mode.
Accessories include three types of newly designed, pre-printed face parts, water-slide decals for eyes and markings, the Dividing Driver, and a variety of hand parts to recreate the "Hell and Heaven" special move. Furthermore, it includes an all-new Mecha Musume version of "Goldymarg" and an SD-style "Stealth Gao II." These can transform and combine with GaoGaiGar to recreate "Star GaoGaiGar." Paired with newly sculpted armaments like the "Gatling Driver" and "nail effect parts," you can replicate the ultimate attack "Hammer Hell and Heaven," where the nails are driven into the enemy.
The included "Goldymarg" also boasts a wealth of playability. Her design, also by Komatsu E-ji, is in the form of a beautiful girl, utilizing a young girl-type posable body approximately 12 cm tall. Incorporating the image of an elementary school student with a backpack, she can be configured into a cute appearance carrying the Goldion Hammer on her back. When combined with GaoGaiGar, she is secured onto the auxiliary arm, resembling a child's safety seat. Accessories include three pre-printed face parts and four pairs of interchangeable stylized hands.
Additionally, the armor and hammer parts, separate from the young girl body, can be combined to form the Goldy Tank mode, just like in the original series. It can even combine with Stealth Gao II to form an aerial vehicle mode, which the young girl body can ride as if it were a piece of playground equipment.
