Today (20th), BANDAI SPIRITS Company's HOBBY Division in Japan announced the latest product from the highly popular character model kit series "Figure-rise Standard": "Kaiju No. 8" (怪獣8号), based on "Kaiju No. 8"! Scheduled for release in April 2024.
Created by Japanese manga artist "Naoya Matsumoto," "Kaiju No. 8" is set in Japan, a country with an extremely high incidence of kaiju appearances. The protagonist, "Kafka Hibino," harbored a grand ambition since childhood to join the Defense Force and fight kaiju. However, due to repeated failures in the entrance exams, he had long given up on joining and instead worked in post-mortem kaiju corpse disposal, having reached the age of 32. One day, a young man named "Reno Ichikawa" became Kafka's junior. Unexpectedly, the two were suddenly attacked by a kaiju. After Kafka saved Reno, he resolved to try joining the Defense Force again. However, that very night, Kafka was invaded by an unknown creature, transforming him into an extremely powerful kaiju, which the world came to call "Kaiju No. 8"...
The "Figure-rise Standard Kaiju No. 8" faithfully recreates the sharp details and organic muscle lines that cover Kafka's entire body after his transformation into a humanoid kaiju. The exposed bone structure of the face, a signature design feature, boasts rich detail. The precise part segmentation structure allows for dynamic, wide-ranging poses without compromising the organic lines of the body. The articulation at the shoulders is sufficient to maintain a natural posture even when the arms are crossed. The head can display three expressions—normal, angry, and open-mouthed—using interchangeable parts. Additionally, this product includes interchangeable right arm parts, interchangeable right leg parts, interchangeable hands, and stickers, providing enough options to recreate a rich and powerful Kaiju No. 8!
