BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division's highly popular character model kit series "Figure-rise Standard" announced today (20th) the release of "Kaiju No. 8" from "Kaiju No. 8", scheduled for April 2024. The girl hailed as the greatest genius in history, "Kikoru Shinomiya" (四ノ宮キコル), will be released in June 2024.
Created by Japanese manga artist Naoya Matsumoto, "Kaiju No. 8" is set in Japan, where kaiju appearance rates are extremely high. The protagonist, Kafka Hibino, harbored a grand ambition since childhood to join the Defense Force and fight kaiju. However, due to repeated failures in the entrance exams, he had long given up on joining and instead worked in post-mortem kaiju corpse disposal, reaching the age of 32. One day, a young man named Reno Ichikawa became Kafka's junior. Unexpectedly, the two were suddenly attacked by a kaiju. After saving Reno, Kafka resolved to try joining the Defense Force again. That very night, however, Kafka was invaded by an unknown creature, transforming him into an extremely powerful kaiju, which the world came to call "Kaiju No. 8"...
One of the main characters in this work, Kikoru Shinomiya, is an accelerated graduate from the California Kaiju Extermination University. Although she participated in the Defense Force entrance exam alongside Kafka, she already possesses super-strength on par with a squad leader and is hailed as the greatest genius in history. Her specialized weapon is a giant axe capable of emitting shockwaves, and her fighting style is incredibly bold and unrestrained.
The "Figure-rise Standard Kikoru Shinomiya" utilizes multiple molded part colors to recreate Shinomiya's appearance in her Defense Force combat uniform and her striking blonde hair. The slender figure of the beautiful girl wielding a giant axe creates a strong sense of contrast. With excellent articulation, dynamic combat poses can be achieved. The head parts include one pre-printed smiling face and three expressions that require water-slide decals for self-assembly, including a version wearing her specialized mask. Accessories also include a handgun, a basic rifle, multiple interchangeable hands, and more.
