For many years, CASIO's G-SHOCK has been dedicated to promoting local trend and street culture. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of G-SHOCK STORE, TAIPEI in the East District at the end of 2023, G-SHOCK has collaborated with renowned Taiwanese toy designer Robin Tang to create a Taiwan-exclusive limited edition watch and figure set, DW5600SKEGT10-SET, with a suggested retail price of NT$5,000.
The collaborative set draws inspiration from Robin Tang's iconic figure character, "Baojie." It uses the 5600 model with a transparent resin case as its base, and features Baojie's silhouette outlined in vibrant pink, purple, and green dreamlike colors on the white resin strap. The words "Robin Tang Antics" are also printed below the case to enhance its collectible value. The figure set, themed "Baojie Boy," comes with one body and two heads, allowing toy collectors to manually assemble and enjoy the fun of changing the figure's style.
Toy designer Robin Tang stated that when he first received the collaboration invitation, he immediately exclaimed internally, "Awesome! It's finally my turn!" He put great effort into perfectly combining Baojie with G-SHOCK. To echo the transparent resin watch case, Robin Tang adopted a transparent body design for the Baojie series for the first time, presenting stunning visual effects while also symbolizing Baojie's pure and clear childlike eyes. The vibrant colors on the watch strap were also applied to the figure's design. For example, the purple shoes give Baojie a unique personality, hinting at the individuality and aspirations of every youth. The pink pants represent the carefree and wonderful times of childhood, and the green hat adds a touch of vitality to the overall design, much like the hope and dreams held within every pure heart.
Furthermore, this time, a watch motif has been specially added to Baojie's left hand, and the pattern on his clothes references the design of an LCD watch face. The information displayed is: SU = SUNDAY, 10-1 = October 1st, 20:23 = 2023, 10 = 10th Anniversary. This signifies Sunday, October 1st, 2023, symbolizing the 10th anniversary of G-SHOCK STORE, TAIPEI in the East District. These intricate design details not only highlight the close connection between the two but also successfully combine the essence of the watch with the charm of the figure, creating a highly collectible limited edition set.
