BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan has announced today the latest product from the 'HG (High Grade)' series of 1/144 scale Gunpla, which boasts the most diverse range of mobile suits, the "HG 1/144 Dark Dagger L" from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY", scheduled for release in April 2024. This product will be sold exclusively on Bandai's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The GAT-02L2 Dagger L was the Earth Alliance Forces' main mass-produced mobile suit in C.E. 73. Its armor design was lightweight, possessing performance comparable to the 105 Dagger and the production efficiency of the Strike Dagger. It was also compatible with the "Striker Pack" series, allowing for various equipment changes based on mission requirements. The irregular special forces unit "Phantom Pain," established by the secret society "Logos," also adopted this mobile suit as standard equipment. However, to enhance its stealth capabilities in space during secret missions, the mobile suit's paint scheme was changed to black, though its overall performance remained identical to the standard specifications.
The "HG 1/144 Dark Dagger L" is a modified version of the previously released "HG 1/144 Dagger L" kit. It features a characteristic black paint scheme achieved by changing the molding color of the armor parts, and comes with armaments such as a "Beam Carbine," "Beam Saber," and a newly produced "Mk39 Low-Recoil Cannon." The kit is designed with "easy assembly" specifications for players who wish to collect multiple units. It also features the "Striker Pack" interchange system, making it compatible with various separately sold HG series Striker Packs and the "Windam & Dagger L Expansion Equipment Set".
