To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the "Chogokin" series, BANDAI SPIRITS Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS of Japan returns to the series' origin with its first product, "Mazinger Z", as the theme, announcing the commemorative product "GX-105G Mazinger Z CHOGOKIN 50th Exclusive" will be sold for a limited time at the "CHOGOKIN 50th Anniversary exhibition" special event, held from May 10 to July 1, 2024.
The "Chogokin" toy series, born in February 1974, was a toy product launched by POPY, the predecessor of TAMASHII NATIONS. Its greatest feature was the use of zinc alloy material to create robot characters from Japanese animation, showcasing a mechanical texture and a substantial feel during play. The manufacturing technology cultivated by "Chogokin" later evolved into popular alloy toy products such as "Soul of Chogokin", "DX Chogokin", "METAL BUILD", and "METAL STRUCTURE".
The newly released "Soul of Chogokin GX-105G Mazinger Z CHOGOKIN 50th Exclusive" is based on the previously released "GX-105 Mazinger Z Kakumei Version", retaining its original-style sculpting and modern, newly designed joint structures. The main body, Jet Scrander, and even some joint parts have been re-treated with a luxurious mirror-finish gold plating. The Pilder (head cockpit) and Rocket Punch jet effects, however, are made of colorless transparent parts to avoid affecting the gold plating, commemorating the 50th anniversary of "Chogokin" with its magnificent golden luster.
