GOOD SMILE COMPANY's mechanical-themed brand MECHA SMILE has announced today the latest product from its completed combining toy series "THE GATTAI": "THE GATTAI King Gridman", based on the tokusatsu series "Gridman the Hyper Agent", is scheduled for release in October 2024. This product will be simultaneously released in two versions: a "Standard Edition" and a "TOKUSATSU EDITION" with more refined paintwork.
King Gridman is an enhanced form created by the combination of Gridman the Hyper Agent and the support mecha DYNA DRAGON. This tyrannosaurus-type mecha is composed of two machines, DYNA FIGHTER and KING JET. In addition to its powerful flame-breathing tyrannosaurus form, it can also transform into the highly mobile large fighter jet, DRAGON FORTRESS. When combined with Gridman to form King Gridman, its agility is greatly enhanced, allowing it to unleash powerful and rapid kicks using the thrusters built into its legs.
The "THE GATTAI King Gridman" product includes an articulated figure of Gridman the Hyper Agent, along with the support mecha "KING JET" and "DYNA FIGHTER". The Gridman main body is the same version as included with the previous "Thunder Gridman", utilizing clear parts and rich color applications to recreate its in-show appearance. Its entire body features joints that offer both strength and a wide range of articulation for posing. It can be displayed in combat poses with the Ion Sword, Barrier Shield, and the combined "Gridman Sword" (Gridman Caliber) and "Thunder Axe".
The support mecha "KING JET" and "DYNA FIGHTER" not only feature various metallic paint applications to express their in-show texture, but their overall design and transformation mechanisms also faithfully recreate the in-show settings. They can reproduce the large fighter jet "DRAGON FORTRESS" form after the two machines combine, and fully transform into the tyrannosaurus-type mecha "DYNA DRAGON". By utilizing the various combination mechanisms, they can recreate "King Gridman" with the Gridman main body, and DYNA FIGHTER can also transform into the cannon "DRAGONIC CANNON"!
This product will be simultaneously released in two versions: "Standard Edition" and "TOKUSATSU EDITION". The difference is that the "TOKUSATSU EDITION" features panel lining applied throughout KING JET and DYNA FIGHTER, which further accentuates the mecha's contours and high-density detailed sculpting. However, the price is consequently 13,000 JPY higher than the Standard Edition.
