Japanese model manufacturer WAVE (ウェーブ) recently announced the latest product from Japanese sci-fi military maestro Hiroshi Yokoyama's "Maschinen Krieger (Ma.K)": the Lunar KRACHENVOGEL "NINJA" 1/20 scale assembly model kit! It is scheduled for release in late July 2024, with a suggested retail price of 6,820 JPY (tax included).
Hiroshi Yokoyama's original SF series "Ma.K" is set in the 29th century, where Earth has been devastated by the Fourth World Nuclear War, practically becoming a dead planet. However, two factions still vie for supremacy over this land: the "Strahl Republic" and the "Earth Independent Government Mercenary Army." The rich array of toys and models derived from the combat armor and vehicles used by both sides has attracted a vast number of sci-fi military enthusiasts.
To introduce this NINJA, we must first mention the Strahl Republic's unarmed unmanned reconnaissance drone NS465 NEUSPOTTER (ノイスポッター). While the NEUSPOTTER achieves unparalleled stealth through its anti-gravity device, it suffers from issues such as requiring specialized maintenance crews for operation and high costs. The KRACHENVOGEL (クラッフェンフォーゲル) is a variant of the NEUSPOTTER equipped with weaponry. The biggest difference from the NEUSPOTTER is that its slender mechanical arms have been replaced by blade antennas, and six anti-tank rocket launchers (Panzerschreck) are installed at the bottom. This time's protagonist, NINJA, is a KRACHENVOGEL designed for lunar reconnaissance, which Hiroshi Yokoyama unveiled in the May 2021 issue of "Hobby Japan."
