BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan recently announced the fifth installment in its 1/144 scale model kit series, "Accessory Set Gunpla," featuring the "Universe Booster Plavsky Power Gate," scheduled for release in July 2024.
The Universe Booster originates from the 2013 anime series Gundam Build Fighters, serving as a support unit mounted on the back of the protagonist Sei Iori's Gunpla, the "Star Build Strike Gundam." Beyond its capability to launch surprise attacks as a standalone fighter, when used as a booster backpack, it can deploy two Star Beam Cannons and Plavsky Wings, significantly enhancing mobility. However, its true value lies in its hidden functions: the "Absorb System" and "Discharge System," which allow it to absorb enemy beam attacks and convert them into its own energy. When combined with the "RG System," which permeates Plavsky particles into internal parts, the unit's performance is dramatically boosted.
The "Accessory Set Gunpla 05 (Universe Booster Plavsky Power Gate)" is a re-release of the HGBC version from 2014 under a new series name. The kit contents are essentially identical, allowing for the assembly of the Universe Booster main unit, Absorb Shield, and other accessories. By combining it with the separately sold "HGBF Build Strike Gundam Full Package," you can recreate the Star Build Strike Gundam. Additionally, it includes effect parts for the "Plavsky Power Gate," which is generated when the Discharge System is activated.
