The robot-themed action figure series 'ROBOT魂 ver. A.N.I.M.E.', released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product from "Mobile Suit Z Gundam", the "GM Cannon Jaburo Base Specification", slated for release in September 2024.
During the mid-to-late stages of the One Year War, while the mass production plan for the RX-77 series "Guncannon" was underway, it couldn't keep up with the Zeon forces' invasion speed. Consequently, a simplified mass-production model, the "RGC-80 GM Cannon", was designed using 60% of "RGM-79 GM" parts. Although its materials and armaments were relatively simplified, with only one 240mm cannon on its shoulder, its low cost and ease of maintenance made it practical as an emergency unit, with 48 units produced before the end of the war. Years later, during the "Z Gundam" era, the surviving GM Cannons underwent partial modernization and were deployed at Jaburo Base, where they were known as "Red Head" due to their distinctive large-area red paint scheme.
The "ROBOT魂 Gouf Flight Test Type Jaburo Base Specification ver. A.N.I.M.E." is a modification of the previously released standard specification . The entire unit, including the head's color scheme, has been changed to the characteristic red and gray tones seen in "Z Gundam". The design faithfully reproduces details such as the two communication antennas at the back of the head, the asymmetrical chest armor, and the backpack equipped with a 240mm cannon. The articulation also features excellent joint design, allowing for various natural poses through movable armor parts on the legs and an articulation axis within the left chest.
For armaments, it includes a Beam Spray Gun, Beam Rifle (for GM II), Shield, Hyper Bazooka, 100mm Machine Gun, and more. Spare magazines and the Hyper Bazooka can also be mounted on the rear waist. By swapping parts, two barrel styles for the 240mm cannon can be reproduced, and the head can be replaced with a gray-painted standard GM head.
