Japanese toy company Kotobukiya today (9th) announced a new addition to its ARTFX three-dimensional figure series, from the sci-fi epic Star Wars: the "Darth Maul Nightbrothers" (ダース・モール ナイトブラザー) 1/7 scale PVC pre-painted figure! It is scheduled for release in October 2024, with a suggested retail price of 22,000 Japanese Yen.

As a Zabrak from Dathomir, Darth Maul possesses crimson skin and fierce horns protruding from his head. Trained from a young age, he boasts exceptional strength and Force sensitivity. In Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2024, he had an overwhelming presence, not only killing Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn but also surviving after being bisected by Obi-Wan. He then fitted himself with spider-like prosthetics and lived on a remote planet, only to be found much later by his kin, Savage Opress. He has appeared multiple times in subsequent Star Wars works, an eternal avenger.

The "ARTFX Darth Maul Nightbrothers" is essentially a repaint version of the same series' "Darth Maul Light-Up Edition". Although this version does not feature a light-up function, the overall paint application is incredibly cool. The significantly desaturated dark red skin and the Sith tattoos covering his entire body create a heavy sense of oppression. The hem of his black attire is brushed with gold at the edges, exuding a weathered appearance reminiscent of ancient stone statues or wooden Buddhist sculptures, injecting a strong Japanese aesthetic into this piece! Coupled with his fierce facial expression, low-center-of-gravity body posture, and classic double-bladed lightsaber, he embodies the Sith's most formidable assassin with a distinct flavor.
The "Nightbrothers" in the product name refers to a brotherhood organization composed of Force-sensitive Zabrak males.
