TAMASHII NATIONS, the Collectors Division of BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd. Japan, will hold a commemorative exhibition at TAMASHII NATIONS STORE TOKYO from May 10, 2024, to July 1, 2024, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the "Chogokin" series. During the exhibition, a commemorative limited-edition product from the "Macross" series will also be released: "DX Chogokin VF-1J Valkyrie CHOGOKIN 50th Exclusive". This product is currently only available for purchase by CLUB TAMASHII MEMBERS. Please see the official website for details.
The "Chogokin" series toys, born in February 1974, were toy products launched by POPY, the predecessor of TAMASHII NATIONS. Their biggest feature was the use of zinc alloy material to create robot characters from Japanese animation, showcasing a mechanical texture and a sense of weight when handled. The manufacturing techniques cultivated by "Chogokin" later evolved into popular alloy toy products such as "Chogokin Damashii," "DX Chogokin," "METAL BUILD," and "Kaitei Shokunin."
The "DX Chogokin VF-1J Valkyrie CHOGOKIN 50th Exclusive" is a modified version based on the regular release from 2018. It utilizes gunmetal, black plating, matte black transparent, and metallic colored parts to present multiple textures, and features the Chogokin 50th Anniversary LOGO printed on its display stand. Other aspects remain the same as the regular version, possessing a substantial presence equivalent to a 1/48 scale, and featuring a three-stage transformation mechanism and excellent articulation design, allowing for cool flying and combat poses in all its forms.
