Figure-rise Standard "Kamen Rider KIVA" Set for Release! Official Unboxing and Assembly Preview!

Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division is set to release the latest product in its highly popular character plastic model series, "Figure-rise Standard," on April 13, 2024: "Kamen Rider KIVA." The company has released an official unboxing, assembly photos, and detailed introduction ahead of its launch.

Kamen Rider KIVA is the combat form taken by the protagonist, Wataru Kurenai, when he activates the Demon Imperial Power within him with the help of Kivat Bat the 3rd and dons the KIVA armor. In this form, he can unleash powerful martial arts and even summon the powers of his three servants—the Werewolf, Merman, and Franken—using whistles to change forms. This armor, originally "Emperor KIVA," was created specifically for the King of the Fangires. Its immense power once annihilated the most vicious demon tribe, the "Legendary Ogres," and even claimed the lives of countless Fangire brethren. Consequently, several "Chains of Sealing" were used to restrict its power, resulting in the current "KIVA Form."

As the final piece of the Heisei Rider Completion Project, the "Figure-rise Standard Kamen Rider KIVA" leverages various technologies from previously released Kamen Rider plastic models. It extensively recreates the texture of the suit from the show using mirror-finish metallic red, EXTRA FINISH metallic silver, matte black, glittering gold, and clear yellow parts that replicate the compound eye mesh pattern.

At the same time, it features high-resolution sculpting that reproduces the patterns on various parts of the armor. The chains on the shoulder and leg armor are composed of individual parts for a more three-dimensional look. Even the unpolished rough texture within the grooves is reproduced through electrical discharge machining.

The belt section also uses metallic red parts with high-density details for its main structure, while the six whistles installed on both sides are made from clear parts with stickers applied. The Kivat Bat the 3rd in the center of the belt can be detached to recreate its wing-spreading flight pose. Although its eyes are made of colorless clear parts, the characteristic concentric circle eye pattern is sculpted, allowing for easy reproduction of the red color with a marker pen or other painting tools.

To recreate KIVA's characteristic forward-leaning combat stance, new designs have been adopted for the waist and hip joints. When the hip joint rotates, internal parts link with the waist exterior, achieving a greater range of motion. This allows for the recreation of the preparatory pose before unleashing the special move "Darkness Moon Break" and leg-lifting actions approaching a split. By replacing the right leg part, the seal-released appearance for the special move can be reproduced, allowing for various cool Rider Kick poses.
