Executive Replicas, an American brand dedicated to releasing various pop culture action figures and prop replicas, will launch a new product based on the classic sci-fi film "2001: A Space Odyssey" – the "EVA Space Pod" 1/6 scale replica. The suggested retail price is US$1,499.99, and it is expected to be released in the fourth quarter of 2024!
In 1968, a year before humanity successfully landed on the moon, the great director Stanley Kubrick brought us the groundbreaking sci-fi film "2001: A Space Odyssey." In an era when humanity knew little about the vast universe and computer special effects did not yet exist, the film challenged unproven scientific theories, presented complex physical phenomena through simple methods, and even raised concerns about technological development, allowing people to fully imagine the future.
Executive Replicas has created a 1/6 scale replica of the EVA Space Pod carried aboard the Discovery One spacecraft in the film, faithfully reproducing the appearance seen on screen back then. After extensive and meticulous research, details such as the textures on the pod's hull, the front lens of the artificial intelligence HAL 9000, and the internal computer screens have been recreated. The rear hatch of the space pod features a magnetic opening and closing mechanism, allowing it to be displayed with previously released 1/6 scale astronaut figures, placing them inside the pod to recreate the breathtaking space operation scenes from the film!
