The assembly model "MODEROID" series, launched by the Japanese brand MECHA SMILE, recently announced the latest products from "Patlabor": the "AVS-98 MARK II Standard Type" and the "AVS-98 MARK II Standard Type Mass Production Color", both scheduled for release in October 2024.
In the anime, the AVS-98 MARK II Standard Type Ingram was a candidate for the next-generation police Labor, developed by Shinohara Heavy Industries as an improvement after the disastrous failure of the AVS-98 Economy Type. Its performance approached that of the Ingram but at a lower cost, and it could also utilize the learning-type software system from the AV Project. However, in a simulated battle against the Ingram, it was defeated due to insufficient OS combat learning and pilot inexperience. This led to the cancellation of the new model's introduction plan, and the AVS-98 MARK II Standard Type had its police equipment removed and was sold for general use.
The "MODEROID AVS-98 MARK II Standard Type" is simultaneously released in two styles: standard color and mass production color, with the only difference being the color of the molded parts. The kit is composed of multi-color molded parts, pre-painted parts, and water-slide decals. Once assembled, it stands approximately 13.5 cm tall. The overall sculpt and coloring largely reproduce its appearance from the show, featuring the wrinkled texture at the joints and clear parts for the head and chest cockpit canopy. The unit also features flexible articulated joint designs, allowing for dynamic combat poses with interchangeable hand parts and original equipment such as a 6-shot revolver (unused in the show), a shield, and anti-Labor stun sticks (long/short).
