Following their previous releases of "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" and "Dark Magician" statues based on the Japanese anime "Yu-Gi-Oh!", the UK-based toy company First 4 Figures, known for issuing numerous exquisite character statues themed after various popular video games, has once again unveiled its latest creation: the full-scene statue of "Pharaoh Atem". This statue will be available in multiple versions, including the Standard/Exclusive Edition and the Definitive Edition, with an anticipated release in Q2 2025.
In the manga "Yu-Gi-Oh!", Atem, the Pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty of ancient Egypt, inherited the throne at a young age. However, his fate was fraught with challenges, as he successively encountered attacks from Thief King Bakura and the rebellion of the Great Demon King Zorc Necrophades and the Dark High Priest. In the battle against the Dark High Priest (Great Demon King Zorc in the anime), Atem even sacrificed his own soul and memories, sealing the Dark High Priest along with his own soul within the Millennium Puzzle. Approximately three millennia later, he was released from the Millennium Puzzle by protagonist Yugi Muto, becoming Yugi's alternate personality, "Dark Yugi."
The "FIRST 4 FIGURES Pharaoh Atem" PVC statue draws its design inspiration from the scene in the anime where Atem crosses the Gate to the Underworld after being released by Yugi. It meticulously captures Atem's details, from his iconic tri-colored hair and Millennium Puzzle headdress to his ancient Egyptian attire. The dynamic walking pose is expertly sculpted, with his flowing cape adding a sense of motion to the design. His resolute gaze conveys immense authority, while the swirling smoke around the base adds a dramatic atmosphere!
The Definitive Edition features LED light-up functionality in the smoke and creates a grand gateway to the afterlife scene. The stone pillars are intricately carved with ancient Egyptian texts and patterns, with delicate cracks showcasing a sense of age spanning millennia. The stone gate is depicted in an open state, and the surrounding torches also boast LED light-up features, conveying the mystery and grandeur of Atem's appearance.
