American toy manufacturer NECA has recently re-released four 7-inch action figures based on the classic 1968 film "Planet of the Apes." These four figures are sold as a set through officially selected channels, with a suggested retail price of US$129.99, and are expected to be released in June 2024!
The classic 1968 film "Planet of the Apes," adapted from Pierre Boulle's novel of the same name, used its dystopian society to allude to the racial discrimination prevalent in the United States at the time. Its exquisite art direction and thought-provoking storyline have secured its significant place in film history. The film was remade in 2001 as "Planet of the Apes" and then rebooted again in 2012 into the "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" film series, which audiences are now familiar with. The series is also set to release its new installment, "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes," on May 8th, ushering in a brand new chapter for the Planet of the Apes saga!
This re-released "Planet of the Apes" 7-inch action figure series features four ape characters: the conservative Dr. Zaius, Dr. Zira who constantly aids the protagonist Taylor, General Ursus, and the Gorilla Soldier. The figures meticulously recreate the special effects makeup from the film and faithfully reproduce the intricately designed costume artistry. Each character also comes with small, plot-relevant accessories, capturing the apes' charm from the original work!
