Hong Kong toy brand threezero's robot alloy articulated figure series, "ROBO-DOU", recently announced the latest product from "Mobile Police Patlabor", the "Ingram Unit 1 / Unit 2 / Unit 3 Reactive Armor Equipped", slated for release in Q4 2024.
The AV-98 Ingram equipped with "Reactive Armor" appeared in "Mobile Police Patlabor 2: The Movie". This reactive armor was originally special equipment developed by Shinohara Heavy Industries' Hachioji factory for the Self-Defense Forces' airborne LABORS. In the film, to allow Special Vehicles Section 2, Unit 2 to assault the terrorist stronghold, the explosive reactive armor was repurposed and equipped onto Ingram Units 1 ~ 3. The reactive armor, resembling a bulletproof vest, is fitted with numerous tubular explosives, which in the film could significantly withstand machine gun attacks from military aircraft.
The "ROBO-DOU Ingram Reactive Armor Equipped" is produced in 1/35 scale, standing approximately 23 cm tall. It utilizes a composite material construction including a die-cast frame, ABS armor parts, fabric joint covers, and PVC soft plastic reactive armor, all finished with weathering paintwork. The entire body boasts over 50 points of articulation. The Ingram not only faithfully recreates its cool mechanical design but also reproduces mechanisms such as the deployment of the right calf weapon storage side armor, the extendable right hand, opening/closing cockpit, rising/lowering pilot seat, and the deployment of the neck's bulletproof glass.
The Unit 1 / Unit 2 / Unit 3 specifications each feature different head sculpts and mini pilot figures (Izumi Noa / Ota Isao / Nagumo Shinobu) to recreate their appearances from the film. Among them, Unit 1 includes replacement parts to recreate the deployed face armor. Unit 3, on the other hand, comes with replacement head parts for its ECM deployed state. Additionally, four pairs of interchangeable hands, a shotgun, a handgun, a stun stick (stored state), and a stun stick (deployed state) are universal accessories included with all three units.
