Japanese figure manufacturer GOOD SMILE COMPANY will release a three-dimensional product from the Hatsune Miku × Tokyo National Museum × Center for the Conservation of Cultural Properties "Dancing Haniwa & Looking Back Beauty Restoration Project": the "Hatsune Miku Looking Back Beauty Miku Ver." 1/7 scale figure! The suggested retail price is 27,500 JPY, and it is scheduled for release in May 2025.
In 2022, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Tokyo National Museum, a collaborative restoration fundraising project, "Dancing Haniwa & Looking Back Beauty Restoration Project," was launched in partnership with 15-year-old Hatsune Miku. The main cultural assets to be restored were the "Dancing Haniwa" and the masterpiece "Looking Back Beauty (Mikaeri Bijin-zu)" by Hishikawa Moronobu, an Edo period painter considered the father of Ukiyo-e. This project also involved collaborating with illustrator Rella to reinterpret the Looking Back Beauty in a Hatsune Miku version.
The "Hatsune Miku Looking Back Beauty Miku Ver." 1/7 scale figure brings illustrator Rella's depiction of Hatsune Miku looking back to life in three dimensions. Standing approximately 28 cm tall, it faithfully recreates her dignified and beautiful appearance, dressed in a gorgeous red furisode with her bangs styled up. The intricate fabric patterns of the furisode, featuring traditional motifs like cherry blossoms and chrysanthemums, are delicately carved and finished with a lustrous pearl coating. The elegant folds of the garment, swaying with her body, are also gracefully rendered, and her striking twin-tails flow naturally. Particularly captivating are Miku's innocent expression as she looks back and her subtly flushed cheeks!
