Kotobukiya, the Japanese toy company renowned for its "ARTFX J" series which creates exquisite three-dimensional figures of ACG characters, is releasing three new products based on the popular anime "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story"—"Himura Kenshin," "Saitō Hajime," and "Sagara Sanosuke"! This article will focus on the "Sagara Sanosuke" 1/8 scale PVC pre-painted figure, with a suggested retail price of 16,500 JPY, scheduled for release in December 2024!
"Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story" is an adaptation of manga artist Nobuhiro Watsuki's work "Rurouni Kenshin," produced by animation studio LIDENFILMS, and serves as a remake of the 1996 anime. Sagara Sanosuke was once a member of the Sekihōtai, a branch of the Imperialist government. Dissatisfied with the Meiji government's suppression of the Sekihōtai, he became a mercenary, fighting battles to vent his anger. He later encountered the rurouni Himura Kenshin, was easily defeated, and persuaded by Kenshin to protect the people, eventually becoming Kenshin's comrade.
This 1/8 scale PVC pre-painted figure of Sagara Sanosuke stands approximately 18.7 cm tall, capturing Sanosuke in a dynamic punching attack pose. The intricate sculpting details include the wrinkles on his flowing clothes and the veins on his fist, while the paintwork enhances the play of light and shadow. His iconic "Aku" (Evil) character on his back is also faithfully reproduced. Although his oversized Zanbatō is not included, the figure still powerfully conveys Sanosuke's immense strength!
