Renowned American toy brand Hasbro announced a new product for its Star Wars The Black Series line at the recent San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) – the "IG-12 & Grogu" 6-inch action figure, inspired by the Star Wars spin-off series The Mandalorian. With a suggested retail price of US$33.99, it is now available for pre-order on the Hasbro Pulse official website and is expected to be released in October 2024!
In "Redemption," the eighth episode of The Mandalorian Season 1, the bounty hunter droid IG-11 activated his self-destruct sequence to save Grogu and his companions, bravely walking alone from the scorching lava river towards the Stormtroopers ambushing at the tunnel entrance, heroically fulfilling his mission. His remains were later displayed as a hero's statue in the central plaza of Nevarro. It wasn't until the beginning of Season 3, when Din Djarin and Grogu returned to Nevarro, hoping to reactivate IG-11 to assist them in exploring Mandalore. Through the coordination of High Magistrate Greef Karga and the ingenious craftsmanship of the Anzellans' mechanical artisans, while the original IG-11 could not be fully reawakened, most of his functions were restored and he was repurposed into IG-12, capable of being piloted by Grogu!
This "IG-12 & Grogu" 6-inch action figure set includes the IG-12 main body, Grogu, and two Anzellan artisan figures. The IG-12 faithfully recreates its appearance as repurposed from IG-11 in the series; its chest can open to allow the Grogu figure, which features single-joint articulation in its arms, to be placed inside. Grogu's hands can be positioned on the joysticks within IG-12's chest, perfectly capturing his adorable piloting pose! The Anzellan artisans, like Grogu, also feature single-joint articulation in their arms, sculpted to reflect their diminutive stature and experienced appearance. When paired with previously released The Black Series Mandalorian and Grogu figures, fans can recreate the scene of IG-11's repair from the show!
