Appearing in the long-awaited new theatrical anime film "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM," the most anticipated new Gunpla model, "HG 1/144 Z'Gok (SEED FREEDOM Ver.)," was recently announced for commercialization. Simultaneously, Bandai officially launched a box art scene poll for the product, further adding to its buzz.
Although the Z'Gok appearing in the film has a similar appearance to the original Gundam version, it is actually a disguise for the ZGMF-X191M2 Infinite Justice Gundam Type-II. This mobile suit is an improved version of Athrun's previous machine, the "Infinite Justice Gundam," utilizing the latest technology from Morgenroete. It features an all-around cockpit, VPS armor, and a significantly revamped exterior armor design, with a large beam horn added to its head for surprise attacks. Its back is replaced with a new propulsion backpack, the "M2X32E VOLANTES," which grants ultra-high-speed combat capabilities through new foldable wings, whose leading edges can also deploy beam blades. However, because this machine uses a nuclear power engine, which violates the Junius Treaty, it must normally operate discreetly, disguised as a Z'Gok.
The "HG 1/144 Z'Gok (SEED FREEDOM Ver.)" utilizes entirely new parts to recreate the Z'Gok's appearance from the film, featuring the same type of propulsion backpack as the Infinite Justice Gundam Type-II, a protruding beam saber on its head, and also faithfully reproduces the Z'Gok's characteristic dual claws and segmented limb design. Furthermore, the product seems to conceal a mechanism that can restore the internal Infinite Justice Gundam Type-II. The full product reveal is scheduled for August.
The product box art scene poll will continue until August 25th, with the results expected to be announced from late August to early September. The scene that receives the most votes will be illustrated by Naoki Morishita, the artist responsible for the box art of the HG "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM" Gunpla series.
