BANDAI SPIRITS Company's HOBBY Division in Japan has announced the latest product from the "Mobile Suit Gundam F90 A to Z PROJECT" for its 1/100 scale Gundam plastic model "MG (Master Grade)" series, which boasts excellent part separation, internal frame structure, and rich articulation. The "MG 1/100 F90IIIY CLUSTER Gundam" is scheduled for release in October 2024.
The F90IIIY CLUSTER Gundam is a mobile suit developed by combining the originally unfinished "Gundam F90" Unit 3 with the "Y-Type Mission Pack (YOUNG STAR)" which utilizes a core block system. After the "Core Fighter F90III" connects with the mission pack to form the "Core Booster F90III", it can horizontally enter the chest core block from the Gundam's back to complete the combination. This makes it easier to replace F90 series mission pack components and armaments, and also allows for direct energy supply to armaments from the mission pack's hardpoints. At the same time, S.N.R.I. learned from the lesson of Unit 2 being stolen, not only making the core fighter the key to activating the CLUSTER Gundam but also centralizing all data management systems within the fighter to prevent rival corporations from stealing information.
The "MG 1/100 F90IIIY CLUSTER Gundam" utilizes a large number of newly molded parts to create exterior styling, a core fighter, and various armament accessories that differ from Units 1 and 2. The cockpit of the Core Fighter F90III can open and close, and by connecting it to the mission pack, it forms the Core Booster F90III. It also faithfully recreates the combination mechanism where the core fighter is inserted into the back. Once combined, the chest cockpit hatch can be opened to confirm the internal status.
The armament accessories include a newly designed dedicated beam rifle and beam saber, a beam shield with articulation and beam effects, and two MEGA Beam Bazookas suspended from the mission pack's hardpoints. Furthermore, various areas such as the wrists, skirt armor, and sides of the legs still retain hidden hardpoint designs, allowing for free customization with separately sold "Mobile Suit Gundam F90 A to Z PROJECT" series mission pack kits.
