BANDAI SPIRITS Company's HOBBY Division, which produces the "HG (High Grade) 1/100 scale" plastic model kits for the Macross series, has announced the commercialization of "HG 1/100 VF-22S Sturmvogel II (Maximilian Jenius's Unit)" and "HG 1/100 VF-22S Sturmvogel II (Milia Fallyna Jenius's Unit)" from Macross 7. Detailed product information is expected to be announced by the end of August.
During the Macross Plus era, the YF-21 Sturmvogel, which competed with the YF-19 Excalibur for the next-generation main mass-production fighter, was ultimately defeated. However, such an excellent performing aircraft did not disappear into the annals of history, but was redeveloped into the special operations aircraft "VF-22 Sturmvogel II". This aircraft largely abandoned the brainwave-controlled BDI system, instead using it as an auxiliary, and redesigned the cockpit structure to be suitable for manual operation. The VF-22S, which later appeared in Macross 7, is a commander's unit with enhanced communication functions. It was piloted by various individuals, including Gamlin Kizaki, leader of the special forces unit "Diamond Force", and the famous Max and Milia couple.

The two new products being commercialized this time are the dedicated units piloted by the famous Max & Milia couple, who are prominent throughout the entire Macross series, from Macross 7. The kits are modified from the previously announced Gamlin Kizaki's unit, utilizing new molding colors and decals to reproduce the aircraft's colors and markings. They also retain the simple transformation mechanism for the three forms—FIGHTER, GERWALK, and BATTROID—through part swapping, allowing for dynamic battle scenes to be recreated with the flexible articulation design in BATTROID mode.
