Sabrina Carpenter Shocks Fans With "Mamma Mia!" Performance; Amanda Seyfried Welcomes Her To Franchise

Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter recently surprised fans on her "Short 'N Sweet Tour" by performing the iconic title track from the beloved musical "Mamma Mia!". Following the viral moment, film star Amanda Seyfried extended an open invitation for Carpenter to join the cinematic universe.

During an interview with ABC News, Seyfried, an Emmy winner, was asked about the potential for a third "Mamma Mia!" film. While Meryl Streep had hinted at a third installment earlier this year, Seyfried remained cautious, stating that while there were rumors, she had not yet received a script.

When the interviewer pointed out the flexible age dynamics within the "Mamma Mia!" universe—noting that Cher and Meryl Streep, despite being only three years apart, played mother and daughter on screen—and asked if Seyfried would consider Carpenter as her daughter in a potential "Mamma Mia! 3", Seyfried reportedly chuckled. She agreed that age was not a significant factor and mentioned that as an actress, she could be aged up with makeup. Seyfried enthusiastically added that if Carpenter wanted to play her daughter, she would absolutely make it happen, expressing her admiration for the singer.

Meanwhile, Christine Baranski, who portrays Streep's character's best friend in the films, previously shared some insights into the third movie's plans with The Hollywood Reporter.

Baranski revealed that she had met with producer Judy Craymer in London, who was actively planning "Mamma Mia! 3". Baranski stated that Craymer had shared some story details with her, though she could not elaborate further. She expressed confidence in Craymer's ability to bring everyone back for another successful installment, given her track record with the highly successful second film.
