Looking back at 2023, acclaimed director Matthew Vaughn, who helmed the Marvel Fox-era prequel "X-Men: First Class," revealed at New York Comic Con that he had abandoned his original negotiations to direct "X-Men: The Last Stand." The reason: Halle Berry, who played Storm, had received a fake script from studio executives. Vaughn, displeased by this deception, angrily withdrew from the directing job, with Brett Ratner ultimately taking over the helm.

Following that revelation, the Academy Award-winning Hollywood actress Halle Berry recently posted a video on her Instagram, responding to Matthew Vaughn's comments at last year's New York Comic Con. In her post, she stated, "You never know what devious tricks they're playing behind your back! Thank you, Matthew Vaughn, for bringing this hidden secret to light."

Matthew Vaughn first recounted the "fake script incident" concerning "X-Men: The Last Stand" during a panel at New York Comic Con in October 2023. He stated at the time, "Hollywood is a very political place. I walked into the executive's office, and I saw a stack of what I remember was a pretty thick 'X-Men: The Last Stand' script."
"So I asked the executive, 'What the hell? Why is this script so thick?' And he replied, 'Don't worry about it!'" When Vaughn couldn't get an answer, he picked up the script himself and discovered it was a fake script specifically written for Halle Berry, intended to trick her into signing the contract. Upon learning this, Matthew Vaughn withdrew from directing "X-Men: The Last Stand."
