Released by BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division, Japan, the "RG (Real Grade)" Gunpla series, which incorporates exterior armor, internal frames, interlocking armor, and new technologies into 1/144 scale models, today unveiled for the first time a prototype of its latest product from the theatrical anime "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM": "RG 1/144 Akatsuki Gundam Shiranui Pack & HG 1/144 Zeus Silhouette Connection Parts". The release date is undecided.
The ORB-01 Akatsuki Gundam is the flagship MS of the Orb military, built by the Orb state-owned enterprise "Morgenroete Inc." Designed based on data from the "GAT-X105 Strike Gundam," its silhouette is very similar, and it also adopts a backpack exchange system similar to the "Striker Pack," allowing it to swap between the "Oowashi Pack" for atmospheric use and the "Shiranui Pack" for space. The Akatsuki places significant emphasis on its defense system; the dazzling gold coating across its entire body is not merely decorative, but rather the beam-reflecting mirror armor "Yata-no-Kagami," which allows it to remain virtually unscathed even when hit by a battleship-mounted "Positron Cannon."
The "RG 1/144 Akatsuki Gundam Shiranui Pack & HG 1/144 Zeus Silhouette Connection Parts" kit requires the separately sold "RG 1/144 Akatsuki Gundam" main unit for use. It includes the "Shiranui Pack" for space use, which also features luxurious gold plated armor. Additionally, it includes connection parts for use with the separately sold "HG 1/144 Zeus Silhouette", allowing for the recreation of its combined form from the theatrical film.
