The HasLab division of the renowned American toy brand Hasbro, which issues high-priced, large-scale collectibles through crowdfunding projects, has unveiled its latest crowdfunding project to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the classic film "Ghostbusters"—the "Plasma Series Ecto-1 (Anniversary Edition)." It will be available in both a Base Model and a Deluxe Model, and the project has now launched on the HasLab page of the Hasbro Pulse official website!
The film "Ghostbusters," released in 1984, will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year. Even if you haven't seen the movie, you're likely familiar with the protagonists' ghost-catching uniforms and the iconic white and red "Ecto-1" vehicle! The original Ecto-1, also known as the Ectomobile, was modified from a real-life 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor. The inspiration behind its design was to transform it "from an ambulance to a hearse, and then back from a hearse to an ambulance," hence the choice of its distinctive white and red paint scheme. Coupled with the various ghost-catching equipment on its roof, it has become a major icon of cool vehicles in popular culture!
This crowdfunding project is divided into a Base Model at US$324.99 and a Deluxe Model at US$399.99. Fundraising will be open until 12:39 PM Taiwan time on December 3, 2024, with a target of 12,000 backers, and is expected to ship in Winter 2025. The Ecto-1 vehicle itself measures approximately 57.1 cm long and 20.5 cm wide. Its impressive size can accommodate 6-inch Ghostbusters series action figures! The Base Model features the design of the original Ecto-1 from the first film. The production team even visited the actual prop vehicle used during filming, striving to faithfully recreate every detail of the Ecto-1's equipment. It includes a removable rolling stretcher, and the vehicle body is equipped with light and sound effects, accurately reproducing various in-movie special effects!
The figure portion includes the first ghost encountered by the Ghostbusters in the library before their establishment—the old lady ghost, marking her first three-dimensional rendition! The translucent purple material recreates her eerie atmosphere from the film, and it comes with library book accessories, allowing you to recreate the scene where the protagonists are startled in the movie's opening. Of course, the iconic Ghostbusters ghost, Slimer, is also included, featuring four points of articulation throughout his body. He can be posed with a dedicated stand to recreate his floating, gluttonous, and mischievous appearance from the series!
