BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan has announced the latest product from the "Figure-rise Standard Amplified" series, which enhances character designs and the dynamic expression of plastic models. The new product, "Obelisk the Tormentor" from "Yu-Gi-Oh!", is scheduled for release in April 2025.
The Divine-Beast type monster card, "Obelisk the Tormentor," along with The Winged Dragon of Ra and Slifer the Sky Dragon, is known as one of the "Three Egyptian Gods." It possesses powerful effects, including 4000 ATK/DEF, and the ability to tribute two monsters on your field to destroy all monsters your opponent controls. In the original "Yu-Gi-Oh!" story, Obelisk was also a monster card created by Pegasus based on a tablet from the Pharaoh's tomb. However, fearing the power of the Three Egyptian Gods, he sealed them away. It wasn't until the Battle City arc that Ishizu Ishtar entrusted it to Seto Kaiba, using it to lure Marik and reclaim the other two stolen Egyptian God cards.
The "Figure-rise Standard Amplified Obelisk the Tormentor" utilizes precise multi-color molded parts to replicate the texture of hard rock on its surface. The gem on its head and its teeth are all individually molded parts. Once assembled, it stands approximately 23.5 cm tall, boasting an incredibly powerful and imposing physique.
Its entire body, including the neck, torso, limbs, and wings, features sophisticated and flexible articulated joint designs, allowing for dynamic poses such as a high kneeling stance. The "Amplified" element of this model lies in the multi-layered structure of its torso and the expansion mechanisms in various areas like the chest, shoulders, arms, and wings. Through transformation, Obelisk's body silhouette can become even larger, expressing the "Fist of Fate" attack with an original form change!
