To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the popular manga "Gintama," TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, has officially announced today the latest product in its popular articulated figure series, "S.H.Figuarts," featuring "Gintoki Sakata," slated for release in May 2025.
Gintoki Sakata, who runs the "Yorozuya," is typically a lazy, unmotivated old man with dead fish eyes, completely lacking the demeanor of a shonen manga protagonist despite being serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump." However, during the Joui War, he was a legendary figure with exceptional swordsmanship, known as the "White Demon." He could even contend with the strongest mercenary race, the "Yato," using only a wooden sword purchased online. His samurai spirit is second to none, and he will always risk his life to protect his comrades and uphold his promises.
The "S.H.Figuarts Gintoki Sakata" figure brings Gintoki to life with an articulated design standing approximately 14.5 cm tall. Through precise sculpting, color application, and printing, his distinctive silver wavy hair, two-layered outfit, and the wave patterns on his clothing are faithfully reproduced. Furthermore, the costume parts feature intricate articulation splits, maintaining the integrity of the sculpt while ensuring a wide range of motion for his limbs, allowing for dynamic and lively poses.
For accessories, a replaceable left arm allows for recreating his pose with his hand tucked into his kimono. In addition to his usual dead fish eye expression, three interchangeable face plates are included: a "smiling face," a "serious face," and a "cunning smirk" that reveals his true nature. Six pairs of interchangeable hands enable a variety of poses, and his signature "Lake Toya Bokuto" (wooden sword) can be equipped in either hand, allowing fans to recreate cool battle scenes from the original work!
