Hong Kong toy manufacturer threezero's "MDLX" series, which produces small-scale mecha articulated figures, has launched a new product based on the movie "Transformers" – the "Coronation Starscream" articulated figure. The suggested retail price is US$129.90, with an estimated release in Q2 2025!
In the animated film "The Transformers" released in 1986, the Decepticons were at a disadvantage in their confrontation with the Autobots in Autobot City. They boarded Astrotrain to retreat, but due to overcrowding, several members had to be abandoned. Starscream, always eager to usurp power, seized the opportunity to personally push the heavily wounded Megatron off the train. He then nominated himself as the new leader of the Decepticons, only to be struck down by the cannon form of the reborn Megatron (Galvatron) during his coronation ceremony.
This "Coronation Starscream" articulated figure adopts Starscream's appearance from the coronation ceremony in the movie. Including wings, it stands approximately 20 cm tall. In terms of specifications, it appears to be a modification based on the "MDLX Starscream" released in 2023. threezero Art Director Kelvin Sau redesigned it based on the movie's imagery, presenting a unique style that combines intricate mechanical structures with classic aesthetics. Various texture details are sculpted onto the body. The figure features 50 points of articulation throughout and a die-cast frame, providing both a substantial feel and excellent poseability!
In terms of accessories, in addition to previously included items like multiple interchangeable hands and laser cannons, the most important elements for this particular design are, of course, the shoulder pads, cape, and crown worn during the coronation ceremony! The shoulder pads feature a magnetic design, allowing them to attach to both shoulders. The cape has internal wires, enabling dynamic posing adjustments as needed, and when combined with the crown, it perfectly recreates his brief stint as the new Decepticon leader! Furthermore, this release also includes Megatron's classic pistol disguise accessory, allowing fans to recreate scenes from the show where Starscream wields Megatron's pistol in attack!
